Director of North America Commercial Supply, Distribution & Trade

The Director of North America Commercial Supply, Distribution and Trade reports to the Head of Commercial Supply, Distribution and Trade and is accountable for the operational leadership of commercial supply chain distribution and logistics, as well as the associated commercial licenses and regulatory compliance operations in North America (primarily United States and Canada). Through strategic planning, management and co-ordination of commercial warehousing, inventory management, shelf-life management, product distribution, validated shipping export/import processes, financial wholesaling, financial data management and regulatory compliance, ensuring the timely and cost-effective end-to-end delivery of commercial supplies to medical centres and patients in North America. Working in partnership with Immunocore colleagues in CMC manufacturing, Global Commercial Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Finance, Commercial and Medical Affairs, as well as with external third-party logistics (3PL) providers and specialty distributors providing market access.


• Responsible for the development, implementation and leadership of the commercial supply planning and logistics for Immunocore within North America. Ensuring the logistical, compliance and regulatory integrity of end-to-end Supply Chain activities to enable progression of Commercial activities through to the patient.
• Leadership of commercial supply, distribution, and trade, accountable for leadership and oversight of the following functional areas:

- Commercial shelf-life management
- End-to-end Commercial Supply Chain (United States and Canada)
- Management of 3PL providers and Distributors / Specialty Distributors
- Warehousing, Serialization, and Inventory Management
- Product Distribution, Transportation & Customs Logistics
- Commercial Financial and Wholesale processes, including management of State Licenses
- Commercial Financial Data Management
- Commercial GDP Compliance within the Supply Chain
- Supply Chain life-cycle management for North America
• Working with CMC manufacturing, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Finance, Commercial, and Medical Affairs leadership to produce supply chain processes for North America that are robust, efficient, and cost effective, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of commercial supplies to medical centres and patients.
• Develop supply chain options, facilitate decision-making, and communicate updated supply and distribution plans to all impacted stakeholders.
• Fully conversant with philosophies and regulatory guidelines pertinent to Supply Chain. Contribute and manage the relevant supply chain information included within regulatory submissions.
• Representation and leadership within Immunocore Program teams, providing Supply Chain strategic direction, expertise, and technical consultancy. Contribution is made through the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of best practice.
• Develop Key Performance Indicators for the execution and tracking of Supply Chain activities.
• Collaborate with IT to develop and implement supply chain IT systems and tools for Supply Chain planning, execution, and analysis.
• Proactively identify, lead, and resolve Supply Chain problems/barriers. This behaviour requires lateral independent thinking and innovative generation of ideas and solutions, coupled with an awareness of the appropriate compliance and regulatory environment.
• Effective resource management and control of annual Supply Chain budgets. Plan, develop and deploy resources and budget plans and meet agreed spending targets.
• Contribute to Immunocore governance bodies and Program teams to progress drug candidates through late clinical development and commercial life cycle management.
• Communicate effectively and transparently with functional heads within Research, Development and Commercial, as well as with the Immunocore Board, as required.
• Facilitate a suitable Health & Safety working environment for employees.
• Work with QA to develop and maintain a fit-for-purpose Quality Management System for Commercial Supply Chain, suitable of supporting regulatory inspections.


• Minimum of 10 years of progressive pharmaceutical supply chain management and leadership experience
• Breadth of Supply Chain management experience, including supply planning and procurement
• Extensive Commercial Biological Products and Financial Distribution experience within the US and EU
• Strong compliance background in GDP (Good Distribution Practice)
• Line and team management experience
• Experience working with Contract Manufacturing/External Supply Management
• Experience growing external Supply Chain organizations, tools and processes
• Strong background of working with ERP/MRP/Supply Chain systems and tools
• Management of supply to geographically diverse clinical centres
• Excellent supply chain analysis skills (e.g. modelling, “What If” analysis)
• Strong relationship building skills

• Contributed to CMC Module 3 regulatory sections
• Proven track record of line management and building a department

• Essential: BSc. in business, supply chain operations or related discipline
• Desirable: MSc. or PhD in related discipline


Target hiring range:

Annual salary:  $150,000 - $175,000

This position is eligible for standard Company benefits and to participate in Immunocore's annual incentive plans.  Incentive plans are contingent on achievement of personal and company performance.  Actual compensation is commensurate with skills, experience and education.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position.
