Senior Analyst, Business Analytics & Portfolio Strategy


Immunocore is a late-stage biotechnology company pioneering the development of a novel class of TCR bispecific immunotherapies designed to treat a broad range of diseases, including cancer, infection and autoimmune disease. We are developing a deep pipeline in multiple therapeutic areas, including five clinical stage programs in oncology and infectious disease, advanced pre-clinical programs in autoimmune disease and multiple earlier pre-clinical programs.

It is an exciting time to join Immunocore. Our most advanced oncology therapeutic candidate, tebentafusp, has demonstrated an overall survival benefit in a randomized Phase 3 clinical trial in metastatic uveal melanoma, a cancer that has historically proven to be insensitive to other immunotherapies. The company also recently completed its Initial Public Offering and was listed on the NASDAQ.

This position is office-based in Abingdon, UK.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide best in class competitive intelligence (CI) and market opportunity analysis as required across all Immunocore’s therapy areas
  • Derive insights that inform strategy decisions across research, development, and commercial functions
  • Be Immunocore’s point of reference for competitive intelligence in multiple priority areas
  • Contribute to the team’s information strategy:
    • Drive an efficient and effective CI process and support activities for major oncology conferences
    • Track the progress of numerous competitors in multiple fields (IR materials, earnings calls)
  • Support the assumptions & build patient-based models, revenue forecasts and discounted cash flow (DCF) models
  • Ensure that all forecasts and models are based on robust and validated assumptions
  • Lead and/or contribute to multiple projects simultaneously that require a high level of analytical and technical ability and significant commercial acumen, as the evolving needs of the business dictate
  • Develop clear, articulate analysis and insights into presentations for highest levels of senior leadership
  • Provide objective business analysis of new indications to guide priority development areas
  • Support long-term strategy by formulating competitive & market insights into potential future treatment algorithms in key Immunocore therapeutic areas

Be Immunocore’s point of reference for competitive intelligence in multiple priority areas

  • Analyse and track companies, products, and technology platforms
  • Translate detailed competitor analysis into clear and concise summaries and implications
  • Ensure that all outputs are evidence-based and underpinned by thorough analysis
  • Continually refine / maintain summaries of key competitive landscapes (platforms, targets, indications)
  • Undertake deep dives on specific topics as required to inform strategy development
  • Provide real-time updates on key competitor developments that are of high importance to Immunocore
  • Scan the oncology horizon to identify new developments and implications for Immunocore’s strategy

Contribute to team’s information strategy and news flow

  • Contribute to the CI process and activities for major oncology conferences
    • Conference planning
    • Data collection and analysis
    • Integration into existing workstreams
  • Track key competitor investor events / earnings calls and provide timely updates to the team
  • Develop and manage processes for ongoing monitoring and analysis of competitive landscapes
  • Track key competitor investor events / earnings calls and provide timely updates to teams

Contribute to the team’s forecasting and valuation work stream

  • Develop and build patient-based forecasts and DCF valuation models
  • Undertake benchmarking analyses to support assumptions and inputs
  • Integrate new and updated epi data into market sizing analyses and patient-based models
  • Develop supporting documentation detailing assumptions and underlying logic
  • Provide clear summaries of model outputs, conclusions and implications

Drive strategy decisions for R&D pipeline

  • Work with team to deliver market opportunity assessments for pipeline assets and / or new indications
  • Review the competitive landscape in new indications to define current standards of care, emerging players, and key competitor dynamics
  • Analyse key competitors including their clinical profile and strategy
  • Build outputs that summarise key ongoing studies, timelines, and clinical data
  • Determine implications for Immunocore’s R&D pipeline, TPP requirements and strategy decisions

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Experience performing complex competitor and market opportunity analysis in the biopharma industry
  • High level of financial literacy, including the ability to build DCF - valuation models in Excel
  • Ability to collate and structure data from multiple sources to form a clear narrative and distil key issues
  • Strong understanding of the pharma/biotech industry - technical, clinical, and commercial knowledge
  • Highly familiar with technical materials (e.g. scientific publications and clinical manuscripts)
  • Strong communication skills – ability to present analysis and justify assumptions to heads of functions
  • Good project management abilities

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in life sciences (or equivalent experience)
  • Biotech / pharma sector experience via industry, banking, or consultancy roles
  • Professional experience in market and competitor insight roles
  • Business or financial qualification an advantage but not essential
