The Role:

Delivering strong financial plans, reporting and analysis that supports the major corporate decisions of the CFO, CEO and the Board of Directors. Forecasting the company’s cash flow and reporting by scorecards.

Providing strong financial support to business leaders and managers to ensure that business strategies and decisions reflect sound financial input, and that financial resources are managed to deliver on company financial expectations. Oversee Functional monthly and quarterly accrual process.

Responsibilities:

Financial Responsibilities

  • Defining the financial planning (budgets, forecasts and long-range plan) processes and calendar for the company. This includes timetables, assumptions, and regular updates to the Executive Director FP&A and Operations, CFO.
  • Delivering and maintaining a long-range financial model of risk adjusted and non-risk adjusted cash flows. Consolidate and provide Group valuation. Includes scenarios, assumptions, and valuation. Working with key functions in the business to ensure a single aligned view. Highlighting risks and contingency plans.
  • Deploying and continually improving tools to support effective financial planning and modelling.
  • Access and Implement new Finance planning system.
  • Providing the Executive Director FP&A and Finance Operations, CFO, with company level reporting on cash flows and profitability versus financial plans, including understanding of key variances, impact on overall achievement of annual and long-range plan, risks and recommending possible mitigation options.
  • Deliver and continuously improve financial reporting process, to deliver and explain cost centre level reports to business leaders, consistent with and reconciled to company level reporting.
  • Supporting business leaders and managers in the construction of the annual Budget, in accordance with the company process, assumptions and targets.
  • Supporting the Executive Director Finance Operations and CFO with reporting and analysis for use with investors on a quarterly or as need basis.
  • Deliver strong financial input to commercial and portfolio decision making and negotiations (e.g. contracts, pricing, profitability analysis).
  • Supporting business leaders in all areas of the business to manage their resources to create maximum value, and to ensure delivery to targets/expectations with ‘no surprises’. Ensure regular review of the use of financial and human resources (actuals, versus plan, versus strategic priority) with business leaders and their team. Provide Business partnering to Business Functions.
  • Ensure the effective application of the company’s financial control framework to business finances, including risk assessment, performing key control activities, SOX process and training and testing of controls where applicable.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller to evolve Immunocore financial reporting and disclosure to best practice.

Management

  • Managing a Financial Planning and Reporting team (two Business Partners (UK and Development) plus Manager FP&A and dotted line reporting from Commercial Business Partner).
  • Headcount planning and recruitment in line with budget, reviewing conflicting requirements and requests, deciding where investments and adjustments might be needed.
  • Ensuring the annual appraisals, career development discussions and identifying development needs, take place including reviewing indirect reports PDRs and ensuring actions are addressed.
  • Overseeing the annual remuneration review in line with Company recommendations budgets, ensuring fairness and consistency within the group.
  • Identifying and anticipating future skills gaps and succession planning, looking to have wider visibility across the whole organization.
  • Understanding the career objectives of direct reports, setting realistic expectations and guiding individuals on the experience and learning needed to achieve their goals.
  • Coaching direct report managers to be effective in the management of their people.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement, understanding possible impact and benefits on other groups and seeking buy-in from the wider management team.
  • Understanding the Company culture and how it is evolving, ensuring the values and ethics that underpin the Company’s success are retained. Championing the Company culture.

Qualifications: 

Essential

  • Significant pharma or biopharma company experience.
  • Significant experience managing financial planning and reporting processes.
  • Worked in a finance leadership role, including people management.
  • Understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS and relevant UK statutory requirements.
  • Experience of working in or closely with international companies, ideally with a US presence.
  • Evidence of continuous improvement mentality, demonstrating improving and transforming finance processes, including leveraging effectively technology.
  • Managed and implemented technology based platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, ADP or other ERPs.
  • Experience of delivering business cases, profitability analysis, forecasts and budgets.
  • Presented and shared insights at senior/Board level audiences. Evidence of credibility with senior management and external stakeholders.
  • ACCA/ ACMA/ ACA CA/ CIMA professional accountant qualification or equivalent (MBA).

 Desirable

  • Understanding of US GAAP.
  • Business development analysis.
