The Role:

Act as the financial business partner to the Programme Management Group, providing them support in the 
financial aspects of nominated clinical programmes; tracking actual spend against budgets and maintaining 
up-to-date forecasts.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver timely and accurate financial information, insights and reporting to enable assigned business 
    area to make well-informed business decisions.
  • Act as primary point of finance contact for the Clinical function, providing hands-on support to these functions as necessary.
  • Calculate and lead Clinical monthly accrual process with Clinical team (co-located) and CROs.
  • Drive regular (no less than monthly) meetings with CROs and Clinical Project managers to review each trial.
  • Provide advice, support and challenge to support improved cost controls, compliance with internal controls and efficient resource allocation.
  • Actively engage, partner with and update key stakeholders.
  • Drive delivery of targets by supporting and challenging stakeholders through development and production of relevant metrics.
  • Provide financial modelling, budget appraisal and support to develop robust business cases which align to strategy and consider benefits and risk.
  • Own the annual budgeting process and re-forecasting exercises for the assigned area and contribute to the production of a rolling long-range plan.
  • Deliver monthly Budget Holder reports to all Core functions.
  • Provide monthly performance reports including variance analysis for the Group’s clinical programme expenditure, to support group-level reporting to the Leadership Team.
  • Work closely with clinical programme managers to aid reporting to the DPC, ensuring approval is sought for total programme cost or milestone timing changes by the clinical programme manager.
  • Support the Financial Reporting team with programme progress information for the month end close process and comments.
  • Coordinate with the Financial Reporting team to ensure the accounting and planning systems are aligned with clinical programmes and key cost categories.
  • Ensure appropriate approval has been sought from the Senior Director FP&A and Financial Controller for any changes.
  • Manage tracking and consolidations for in-sourced Clinical trials, operational day to day interaction expected with multiple vendors.
  • Align with Contract Manager for Clinical in monthly meetings and help with reporting for CRO Change order negotiations.
  • Fully understand and keep track of the financial impact of the Group’s supplier clinical external contracts, providing ad-hoc support at the pre-agreement phase where required to ensure Management and the Group are fully aware of financial obligations.
  • Work with the relevant HR Business Partner to monitor, track and report on Development and US headcount metrics.
  • Own Trial Balance for Immunocore LLC and monthly check cash, accrual and other balances as well as insure tax and transfer margin forecast.
  • Supporting the Senior Finance Director FP&A in coordinating financial planning processes to Budget Holders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the FP&A function by making proposals for process improvement to be considered for implementation.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise and knowledge of Immunocore’s financial policies and apply such knowledge to guide and influence as a business partner.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the Life Sciences industry. 

Qualifications: 

Essential

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Experience of collaborating with cross-functional colleagues on financial matters and projects.
  • CRO or Clinical trial finance management experience in Pharma/Biotech.
  • Advanced knowledge and usage of MS Excel.
  • Experience of using ERP/Accounting Systems.
  • Proven track record of process improvement.

Desirable 

  • Industry experience within a high-tech, fast growing organisation.
  • Experience of using NetSuite software.
  • Qualified with large (top 10) accountancy firm with industry experience.
